Day 1: Rishikesh to Ukhimath

The journey begins in the spiritual town of Rishikesh, known for its serene Ganga ghats, yoga ashrams, and adventure sports. From Rishikesh, you will embark on a 6-7 hour drive to Ukhimath, a quaint hill town in Uttarakhand. The route is dotted with lush greenery, winding roads, and occasional glimpses of the Ganga river.
Ukhimath is a picturesque town that serves as the winter seat of the Kedarnath temple. Located at an altitude of 1,317 meters, it offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks like Chaukhamba and Kedarnath. Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation and soak in the tranquility of this charming hill station.

Day 2: Acclimatization at Ukhimath

Spend this day acclimatizing to the higher altitude while exploring the serene surroundings of Ukhimath. Visit the Omkareshwar Temple, where the deity of Kedarnath and Madhyamehshwar is worshiped during the winter months. Stroll around the village to interact with the locals, enjoy the cool mountain breeze, and prepare yourself for the trek ahead.
If you’re up for a short excursion, head to Chopta, the base of the Tungnath trek, located about 40 km from Ukhimath. Known as the “Mini Switzerland of India,” Chopta is surrounded by dense forests and offers magnificent views of snow-capped peaks.

Day 3: Ukhimath to Burwa 16 km. Will go by car. Trek will start from Burwa  to Tingri Bugiyal 8 km. 

The trekking adventure begins! From Ukhimath, you’ll drive to a suitable starting point and then start your trek to Tingri Bugiyal. The trail takes you through dense oak, deodar, and rhododendron forests, gradually opening up to the lush green meadows of Tingri Bugiyal.
Tingri Bugiyal is an idyllic alpine meadow at a higher altitude. It offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks, with vibrant wildflowers carpeting the landscape. Set up camp here, enjoy the crisp mountain air, and spend the night under a starlit sky.

Day 4: Tingri Bugiyal to Vishuri Taal. 10 km

After breakfast, you’ll continue your trek to Vishuri Taal, a pristine high-altitude lake. The trail is moderately challenging, taking you through rolling meadows and forested patches.
Vishuri Taal, nestled amidst the mountains, is a hidden gem known for its serene waters reflecting the nearby peaks. Legends associated with the lake add to its mystic charm. Spend the day exploring the area, taking photographs, and enjoying the solitude before setting up camp for the night.

Day 5: Vishuri Taal to Chitra Gupha/Mallaa Gairu, Roni Taali. Chitra 8 km. Malla Gairu, Roni Taali 11km.

Today’s trek leads you to Chitra Gupha (meaning “hidden cave”) or Mallaa Gairu, Roni Taali, two lesser-known but equally captivating spots. The trail offers a mix of rocky paths, meadow crossings, and occasional streams, making it an adventurous journey.
These areas are known for their unspoiled natural beauty and provide a sense of isolation from the rest of the world. Spend the night here amidst the serene wilderness, sharing stories around a campfire.

Day 6: Chitra/Mallaa Gairu, Roni Taali to Deoria Taal 10 km. 

The trek continues to Deoria Taal, a stunning emerald lake surrounded by dense forests. This lake is famous for its crystal-clear waters that reflect the snow-clad peaks of Chaukhamba. Legend has it that the Pandavas once visited this lake during their exile, adding a mythological charm to the spot.
After exploring Deoria Taal, you’ll head back to Ukhimath for an overnight stay. Spend the evening reminiscing about the trek, enjoying the warm hospitality of the locals.

Day 7: Ukhimath to Rishikesh

After breakfast, bid farewell to the mountains and drive back to Rishikesh. The downhill journey is equally mesmerizing, giving you a chance to revisit the scenic beauty of the Himalayan foothills. Once back in Rishikesh, unwind by the Ganga or treat yourself to some delicious local food at one of the riverside cafes.

Additional Notes :
  1. Best Time to Visit: May-June and September-October are ideal for this trip as the weather is pleasant and trekking trails are accessible.
  2.  Fitness Level: Moderate fitness is required for this trek. It involves long walking hours and altitude changes.
  3. Gear: Comfortable trekking shoes, warm clothing, a sleeping bag, and essential trekking gear are a must.
